      In Qiaotou, you can leave your large backpack at one of the shops (for a small fee) and just carry a daypack for the trek. You can arrange for it to be sent directly to Tina’s Guesthouse for pickup tomorrow.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      <\/span>The Hike Begins<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

          Continue to the\u00a0<\/span>Tea Horse Guesthouse<\/span><\/strong>, a popular lunch stop. Enjoy a meal on their terrace with your first real panoramic views of the gorge.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

          The 28 Bends (The Challenge):<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

          • \n

            After lunch, the trail begins the infamous\u00a0<\/span>“28 Bends”<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 a steep, zig-zagging ascent. This is the most physically demanding part of the trek.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            Take your time, rest often, and drink water. Local entrepreneurs often wait at the top with their horses, offering rides for those who need a break (negotiate the price, usually \u00a5100-200).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            The Reward:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0At the top of the 28 Bends, you are greeted with one of the most spectacular views of the entire trek\u2014the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain towering over the deep gorge.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

            Final Stretch to Halfway:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

              The trail evens out and becomes mostly flat or downhill. You’ll walk along the mountainside with incredible views all the way.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

              Your destination for the night is the legendary\u00a0<\/span>Halfway Guesthouse<\/span><\/strong>. Its “Sky Terrace” offers an unbeatable view of the mountain range, especially at sunset. Book this in advance during peak season!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              Day 2: The Descent and the Gorge Bottom<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

              Route:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>Halfway Guesthouse \u2192 Waterfall \u2192 Tina’s Guesthouse \u2192 Descend to the Gorge \u2192 Tiger Leaping Rock \u2192 Tina’s \u2192 Return to Qiaotou\/Lijiang\/Shangri-La<\/span><\/strong><\/span>
              \n<\/span>Hiking Time:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a03-4 hours<\/span><\/p>\n

                Morning at Halfway:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                  Wake up early to enjoy the sunrise on the mountains from the terrace. Have a hearty breakfast.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

                  Hike to Tina’s Guesthouse:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                    The trail continues past Halfway, leading you through a beautiful section that passes behind a small waterfall.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                    The path is mostly downhill or flat from here, winding through forests and farms.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                  • \n

                    You’ll end this section of the hike at\u00a0<\/span>Tina’s Guesthouse<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0(also called “Tina’s Inn”). This is a major transport hub.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

                    Optional: Descent to the Gorge Bottom & Tiger Leaping Rock:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                      This is highly recommended if you have the energy! It’s a steep descent (about 40-60 minutes down, longer to come back up) via a system of trails and ladders.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                      At the bottom, you’ll reach the roaring Jinsha River and the famous\u00a0<\/span>Tiger Leaping Rock<\/span><\/strong>\u2014the legendary stone the tiger supposedly leaped onto.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                      Feel the power of the river and take in the sheer scale of the cliffs around you.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

                      The Journey Back:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                        Climb back up to Tina’s. You can collect your stored luggage here.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                        Crucial:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Pre-book a seat on one of the daily buses departing from Tina’s. They typically leave for\u00a0<\/span>Lijiang<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Shangri-La<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0at around 3:00 PM or 3:30 PM.
